International conference “The regeneration of former military sites. Perspectives, debates and redevelopments in Italy, Spain and abroad”

The event offers an opportunity to open an indepth debate and establish innovative collaborations among academics, public bodies and professionals on the issues of the former military sites in Italy, Spain and abroad (i.e., the Italian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economic Development, State Property Agency, public and territorial bodies, and corresponding entities in Spain and abroad).

The conference will begin with introductions by Francesco Gastaldi and Federico Camerin, Iuav University of Venice, Alberto Ferlenga, Rector of the Iuav University of Venice, Laura Fregolent, director of the Iuav University of Venice, Massimo Gambardella from the Direction of Helth Services-Italian State Property Agency, Nicola Martinelli, Polytechnic of Bari and president of Urban@it and Mariella Annese, executive director of Urban@it, and will continue with the dialogue with more than 70 Italian, Spanish and international academic experts and professionals involved in the regeneration processes of cities and territories starting from e former military sites (airports, arsenals, barracks, depots and warehouses, lighthouses, firing ranges, etc.).
